Felted Hats

These hats and scarves are only some of what I make and are the ones I have remembered to photograph and put on the website.  I have been making a few more scarves lately and you can see more of my fiber creations on this Etsy Site:

I have been having a lot of fun designing and making some new types of fiber art.  It has taken a few complete failures to understand how some of these techniques work and I will have the rest of my life to perfect my own style.  This year I have made Nuno, Cobweb and Flat Felt Scarves and some free-form hats in the three shades of brown shown below.  You will find most of them in the Etsy shop shown above.

Dark Brown from Escallonia

Medium Brown from Daphne

Light Brown from Piangee

This hat has since been reworked and is pictured as 9-2010 - above with the camo scarf and band

This hat was a test as to how gauzy I could felt alpaca fleece. The fleece was dyed before the hat was formed. This was a fun hat to make but I probably won't be making another one.

Traded for natural fiber yarns - Extra small off-white Stetson style hat with leather braided mini belt for a band.

Large flanged brim hat with yellow band. The fleece on top of the hat has been brushed in the direction of the outer brim. It almost looks like an animal skin that was tanned with short fur on it.

This - another hand dyed silk hanky embellished hat - is a stingy brimmed Fedora style using Escallonia's chocolate brown fleece. I am amazed at how much they look like marble.
