| Comments: | You do have so much to write about & you're sooarticulate & colorful. I am astonished at your achievments.I just got a call from Grandma Gabbe or MImi as she decided she'd be called. Then right after that the phone rang and it was Paul wishing me happy great grandmother's day. Kare & David are meeting him halfway for the river trip. Jack Henry Henicle made his appearance at just under 8 lbs & 21" long. And has reddish cast to his hair. Byron wanted to be sure I was told that. Better get off. I keep having pop-ups that I have to rid myself of before I can type anything further. I love & admire you and your fortitude. Much Love Beautiful Mommy |

I just want to say thank you for all you have done for these beautiful birds. I'm such a sentimental person sometimes....lol. It was hard to hear. Also that Johan is in the hospital... I just want you to know that although i dont know you, I love you for all you have done and given to me through these beautiful birds. Take care and i will be praying for you and your family. | Comments: | Love the appearance of the barney's and the egg color (wow!). We started a flock of chickens about 3 years ago and are down to 2. Robyn is a science teacher and found her classroom has an egg incubator and has hatch chicks in the past. We are looking forward to hatching some eggs and keeping some of the girls. We just found a fellow who has a farm, nearby, who will take the cockrels. Sorry to read about your husband's health. Hope he makes a full recovery. PS The kids love the Boris photos! |

| Comments: | The 12 chicks that hatched from your eggs are doing great! They have their own bedroom with a run of three large connecting dog crates. More cautious than other chicks we've had in the past, they check out everything new before having fun around it. They're calm enough to hold but have lots of fun flying, running, perching and doing their chicken thing. Thanks for such wonderful, healthy stock! |

| Comments: | I too enjoy chickens my husband and I used to raise many and now we are doing it again after 38 years ona much smaller scale. I am so interested in Barnvelders mainly because they are hardy and lay such wonderful dark large eggs well, and there are other factors as well. I would like to have just two hens and don't know how to go about getting just two that lay as dark of color eggs that you show in the picture. Many sites that sell these birds are not showing that truly dark rich color. Oh ! Did I mention Holland! Thank You Lovely site Sarah |

I'm also trying to do sustainable agriculture. We have a small orchard, a couple of raised bed gardens and 3 ponds. I'm going to have to look into the grass carp you mentioned you put in your pond. Once I get skilled at hatching eggs I may want to order some of the barnvelders from you. Good luck with your farm. |

| Comments: | My wife and I just purchased my grandparents farm and we are wanting to bring the chickenhouse back to life. Grandma ran about 200 RIR for years selling eggs to the local community and we just want to focus on quality and not big numbers. Barnevelders may be our choice as I look into different choices we have. I get through your part of the state with my involvement in Boer Goats and would like to schedule a visit next time I am close. You have a beautiful set of birds! |

| Comments: | I am just starting out with an interest in some chickens. I have a long history of dogs, cats, horses, birds, fish, etc. So, I think I will do well with raising and keeping chickens. I have been doing a lot of research, and I would love to have some more information on your Barnevelders. I have seen that you are the best at Barnevelders. At this point I am not interested in breeding, at least not yet, but I am interested in egg production. I am thinking about having 5 or 6 pullets total. I have been going back and forth between 4 breeds, the Ameraucana, Barnevelder, Maran, and Wyandotte. Since these chickens will live in a backyard, I am curious about your thoughts about the Barnevelder personality, getting long with people and with other chickens. I am planning getting a eglu cube, which is easy to clean and holds up to 10 chickens. |

| Comments: | Hi there. I love your site! Did you know that it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to find any quality Barnies in Canada? They are all hatchery birds and there is nothing more frusterating than hatching chicks from good looking parents just to discover that they weren't pure birds after-all :( I am desperatly trying to find some people who may be interested in helping me acquire some quality bloodlines so that I may begin to develop my own bloodline of these wonderful birds. |

| Comments: | I went to your site as I have 3 Barnevelder, 3 White Polish, and 4 Bardrocks. They are all 5 weeks old and living in my large bathtub so far until this weekend. I notice that the Barnevelders have a strange habit of trying to scratch the water and food from the feeder as they eat and drink. I think it is they who are the biggest contributors to spread the feed all over the place and the water too making a nush. They were the last ones to perch above the ground level, and frankly so far they seem the less intelligent of the bunch. I also have a slowly decreasing flock of 3 year old Rhode Island Reds and Bardrocks. I was encouraged by your website to read that you are enamored by them. I hope it is not entirely due to their name. I like your website. Perhaps some day I will get some incubating eggs for my hens. I cannot have roosters here as the neighbors complain. |

| Comments: | You and I have already communicated concerning Barnevelder eggs. I have not had any chickens for several years but now have a few chicks of several breeds just for the joy of having them. In researching the chicks I became interested in the Barnevelders and already wish I had found your site before getting any other chicks. I am excited about getting eggs from you and hatching chicks for myself. I have a tank stocked with Dhannel and Humpback Blue catfish, Red Ear sunfish and minnows. I have 2 Kiger Mountain Mustang horses adopted from the B L M. They have never been ridden and probably never will be. I just like horses. Actually, I like most any animal. I started building a greenhouse last fall and will resume building it this spring. 17 x 13 feet. I'm afraid I'm taking on too much for an old man. I used to operate a dairy farm here where I still live and traveled for Northrup King Seed Co. for 27 years. All this inspired by your web site. Thanks |

We are currently small-time chicken farmers, although we have yet to raise our own "from scratch." We started with day-old chicks from the hatchery. Now that we've learned more, we'd like to choose some favorite breeds to raise. The Barnevelders are of particular interest to us. Do you sell your chicks or fertilized eggs? |

We have one dairy nubian goat, several sheep and a small flock of chicken that I want to increase in size. I found your site while looking for Barnevelder chicks. How is your rooster? Is he friendly to humans and does he treat your chickens well. I have had bad luck with roosters for several years but I keep looking for the right breed. Thanks for sharing your farm story. |

When we've looked at books (with pictures of chickens) we liked many, but the Barnevelders are quite beautiful birds. I have been searching around for more information on them (temperment, laying ability, color etc) as we start laying out plans for a coop and run. |

| Comments: | Your site has helped me more then I could find in many sites. Thank you for all the information. You have a beautiful farm. My husband and I have been working on putting into practice all that we have learned when it comes to homesteading. I have my first batch of eggs incubating. There are several types of chickens that will hatch. I figured it would give me time to research different breeds.I have been looking for that one type of chicken that can fulfill our needs. The Barnevelders have peeked my interest. I have noticed this type of breed is not overpopulated in the chicken community. Oh yes, I realize there is a rhythm to farming. Abviously....I'm not in that rhythm....yet. I guess that's why they call it "spring chickens" ;~) Good Day To You and Thank You, Debra |

| Comments: | Hi, So good to talk with you both and loved this site. Bo and I have talked about moving out of state many times but I am probably the problem we have'nt done so. I really like the weather here and the diverse things we can do. Bo on the other hand has expressed he would like to get out of CA . Missouri is an ok state and when we lived their, I'm talking about when I was with my parents, we lived simple and easy.....country...pumping water out of a well....raising chickens etc. I liked it except for the chores....milking cows....chopping fire wood....anyway we probably wouldn't buy a place that old but I have my memories. How did you choose the area you are in? You both have made your life productive. It is fun to grow gardens and the way you all are doing it....healthy as well. We will keep in touch. God Bless, Pam & Bo |

| Comments: | What fun. If I ever wore hats, I'd be out to get one. However, I do love your chickens. Once we finish building the house and get the chicken house built I definitely will have to buy some of them. They look great. I love your new additions, they are all adorable too. |

| Comments: | You are living like I have for the past 27 years. Actually, for most of my life. I'm a great grandma of 8 now. I've just an acre but large organic veggie garden(s), dairy goats, chickens, sometimes turkeys and a lovely gaggle of Roman Tufted geese. Dogs and cats are also here. I LOVE the bible scriptures you've posted on your web site. It's what I believe in and the way I live. Most folks say I'm the Gilbert magnet for young folk. There are often 8 teens here on a daily basis. They garden (I give them all the space they want) and keep goats and chickens here since they are "city kids". I would like to know when you could ship about 3 dozen hatching eggs to me? By the way, my daughter and her husband, married 26 years, moved from AZ to buy a 90 acre place in West Plains, Mo. They fish, hunt and garden also. Do let me know about the hatching eggs ASAP. Thanks so much, Bobbie |

| Comments: | I am quite fond of the Ledfords, they are one of a kind sort of people, they thank God for every blessing, and never seem down-in-the-mouth any time I speak to them. Pride in what these two have done is what I feel inside. They left everything they knew and loved (except God and each other) and settled in a new state located a considerable distance from California. They have beautiful stock, vegetables, and flowers.. and Christina makes hats that are to die for. I pray they take good care of themselves so I can be part of wazzup in Missouri !! God bless you both, Rie |

| Comments: | Hi,I'm Crystal Erica's younger half sister. Christina and Gino are visiting us right now. My husband and I are raising Americana chickens, we have 8 laying hens and 2 roosters. So, Kristina showed me your site so I could check out your chickens. They are very nice looking. We are also getting into the sustainable living style, so your site was an inspiration! |

| Comments: | Interesting. You left Calif (which part?) & went to MO! I bought my 50 acre farm in 2005 & have now stocked it w/ 10 Irish Dexter cattle (great for small land holders!) & 5 little baby boys that'll head to hte freezer over the next 2 yrs. I also have 10 goats (Boer/Kiko/Myotonic) & am looking forward to several babies any day now. This spring I'll be adding a few sheep & about 100+ chickens. All will be pasture fed. I'll be building a chix-mobile to move thru the pasture. Mmmmm.. pastured chix & eggs! Next year it's pigs & bunnies! I also have 2 freezers! I'll try to be building a smoke house & root cellar this spring as well. W/ all that meat... I'm going to need it! I'll be sending most of it back to my children. I can't do anything about ht emeat that I fed them because I did't know any better. But... I can make sure that my grandchildren grow up on heathy meat. I know that I've fed heatlhy veggies... I've been an organic gardener for 30 yrs. Glad to see that you |
