Started Chicks

Next available started birds in the Spring of 2012.   We will have 8-week old, sexed chicks for sale starting the first week of March 2012.

I sell started chicks for $25.00 each. They are at least 8 weeks old and they are sexed.   I normally ship Priority but will ship Expresss upon request, but it is more expense to the buyer.  I use Bio Secure boxes, specially made for shipping poultry.  They now cost $13.00 each.  At the age of 8 weeks, we can put two chicks in a box comfortably, with a divider that I make and install.  Once they get a little older, they need more room in their box and can not be doubled up.  I usually put corn cob bedding in the bottom, corn-on-the-cob or hominy and/or apple pieces for the chicks moisture and food needs during the trip.

2 (8 week old) chicks - $50.00

1 bio-secure box - $13.00

Regular Priority shipping - $25.00 

If chickens are more than 8 to 10 weeks old, I need to figure out the cost of shipping because the more they weigh the more expensive it is.  Shipping costs have also been rising on shipments to the East and West coast, so those charges will have to figured in to the total cost before I can give a final quote.
